It is located in Banff National park, with walking distance of 5.2 km which is about 3.2 miles.You will absolutely enjoy your walk, as well as it is free. On your way you will see galcier and frozen waterfall.

Hiking

Hiking to Johnston Canyon is easier than hiking other areas in winter. It is only 5.2 km from parking. For this you don't need showshoes because you will not not face trouble walking on the ice, because everyarea is not slippery except some. Sometimes it depend upon the weather that it's been raining that day or not. The rocks have uneven appearance, which help you to climb up the rock because it it support to your hands.

Though you will not he as low to the river as high perspective gives you good view of the snowy forest and waterfall.

During hiking you will go through several steel catwalks, which crawl along the edge of the Canyon. You will walk along the half freezed river, water and ice bith at a time, which make scenic moment to capture. The most eyecatching scene is the forest covered with ice. It always love to see this moment. After this you will fall towards the upper side of falls, moving along trail.

The bridge is suspended over the water stream provide to remarkable view. There you will see the limestone cave, it is not less the adventure to move into this cave.
